Ikigai by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles

I started this book with a mindset that it will be a common regular self help book…just because it focus on Eastern Culture that too Japan and have a beautiful name and even more beautiful cover it got this much hype.
.
But I was wrong and how….
I have read many many self help books. If you ask me now I will be able to remember only couple of books which really had a positive impact on me. This book is also one among them now. Not saying because I finished but now or today. I generally give myself a week time before I share anything now.

The Vibe

.
Its a holistic book which focuses on the development and happiness of our overall life though the focus of the book is in the longevity of life and happiness. Book is based on Centenarians of Japan particularly a village. But the Ikigai and the approach is not limited to that. Its for everyone irrespective of age.
.
This book is all about finding purpose to passion, words of wisdom to the diet and exercises..also about resilience and stress.
.
As the Author say- ” IKIGAI- The art of living ” which truely it is
.
Note- it’s not necessary that everyone will like this as you need to have a connection a matching vibe with this book otherwise this will look like a simple self help book.

Book Review- Verity by Colleen Hoover ( SPOILER ALERT)

Advertisements

Thriller… Suspense…Mystery….thess genre books are something I always avoided. It’s another thing in my childhood I was a big Sherlock Holmes fan. But in my last year book reading challenge I decided to go against my comfort zone and explore different genre and so I did. So here comes the Verity by Colleen Hoover. It was available on Amazon Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited both. But as per my latest knowing it’s now only available on Kindle Unlimited.

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Do you get addicted to book and even though it’s a thriller I wanted to take my own sweet time to read this. But what mistake I did was when I was almost half of the book I discussed with few of my close friends that how good this book I am reading is..as it was holiday time and they checked the Reviews it was all good they too started reading. And all 3 of my friends finished it in a day. Damn I took a whole one week. I was kind of pressurized to finish this book .

Narration can I give some extra point to that especially in the first half of the book. Too good so catchy so interesting so simple yet to impressive.

All the situation all the description is so well mentioned that you can literally imagine that. (Including the creepy things) just to add on my friend read the book in night..she also switched on main light along with reading lights.

Though I have mentioned spoiler alert warning but still I don’t want to mention much because I feel it does impact your reading. So let me sum up my overall experience

First 25%- extraordinary…. impressive…. hooked on …everything good best

Second 25%- good with detailed description kind of totally hooked on..started thinking about what can be probable ending.

Third 25% – now come a little downfall it’s not that you are not hooked on but things did start getting kind of repetitive you kind of start imagination what could be next step. But still really good.

Fourth and the last 25%- I felt it’s rushed off well I always feel that for any Suspense thriller kind of book means you have just read a whole damn book you made so many theories and at end it was …..well the ending was neither simple nor complicated but I had lots of questions. Which did made me a bit disturbed for one whole day. And after that I was fine.

My Recommendation- please please please read this book even though you are beginner or a pro in this genre you are definitely going to love it.

Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak…a very very late post

This book was recommended by one of my very good friend couple of years back when I was going through a low phase in my life. I was and am a book lover and so is she..when she said about this book I was not much aware about the Author. She know my love for Paulo Coelho book and she said that you will love it too.

Well I got this book and I finished it within 3-4 days. This book narrates 2 story and have 40 quotes as Forty Rules. Obviously you will hardly remember any rule in long run but whenever you feel like you need to love yourself you need some positivity just only go through those 40 rules and you will definitely see a change in yourself.

Book lovers are a totally different variety, we feel the book we live in it. I still go to this whenever I feel like reading something positive. It fills my heart with happiness. And again I say you won’t remember these rules they are not long lasting. They are not something you can say to others after few days. But you can always read them reread them.

Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak

Have you read this book or any book from Elif Shafak. I am interested to explore more of the Author’s book.

Brida by Paulo Coelho – A very very late post

Advertisements

This is not a general fiction book. If you are someone who want to start with reading you may read this as the language is simple but the language of Paulo Coelho is a different level. But to those who are passionate Reader give this a try. A different read after all.

This book has two sides black and white. Either you will love it or not there is no mid way. If the story theme connects with you …you will enjoy reading it otherwise No….it’s story of a girl in her journey of knowledge…love, passion, desire for a soulmate, mystery and spirituality (art of witchcraft).

I see Brida as a wanderer..at many times I connect with her when she search for things she always wanted to. I too have an insatiable desire to many things. For that I read and I read more…. I enjoy her journey of searching spirituality, magic, witchcraft.

Daughters of the Sun by Ira Mukhoty

Book Name- Daughters of the Sun by Ira Mukhoty

Type- Kindle paid version

Some books are not just books they are the ocean of information which you always wanted to know…

Indian history always fascinated me … infact sometimes I do think I should have gone the history way instead of management (but I love my HR work too). My love for forts, museums, history related books are never ending.

When I heard about this book I knew I have to read this..I wanted a hardcopy but went ahead with Kindle version. This book is on the life of Begum shahzadis of Mughal Dynasty. Or can say those powerful females. From Khanzada Begum (Babur’s sister) to Zeenat- Un – Nissa (Aurangjeb’s daughter)

This book is not only about their life but also a change from Timurid to Hindustani culture. Very well mentioned. But the most interesting and offcourse the most powerful character but still many don’t know about her was Jahanara Begum. I always had a fascination or can say a curiousity to know about her. Indeed she was the most magnificent …

It took me many months to complete this book..I hardly skipped even a word…where I wanted to knew more I searched on net…I took time to understand and yes I Loved It Alot.
